What changes in the experience
Work accounts connected to Microsoft Entra receive clearer visual indicators, including account identification and a green shield. The app also gets a simplified name and icon.
On the web, m365.cloud.microsoft moves to copilot.cloud.microsoft. Redirects will be automatic when the new domain is not blocked by the organization.
What IT teams should verify
Review proxies, firewalls, DNS filters and access policies to confirm that copilot.cloud.microsoft is allowed. Where appropriate, include *.cloud.microsoft in allowlists and validate connectivity before the change.
It is also worth notifying users and internal support teams to reduce questions about the new address and account indicators.
Security and governance remain unchanged
This is a visual and access update: existing security, compliance and governance controls do not change. Even so, clearer account separation helps reduce the risk of working in the wrong context.
The early preview for Windows and Mac apps starts on August 18, with broader deployment expected in mid-September.
